Yesterday's Card: 2022

The Labyrinth Oracle
by Walter D. Pullen, Illustrator: Kathy Pullen

When we look back, things seems to have happened as the logical result of a series of events and choices made.
But it sure doesn't feel that way when we are in the midst of the now. We are constantly trying to divine the future using every clue we can find but in the end all our choices are made from within. Then we cross our fingers and hope for the best, hope we are right and put our trust into God, the Universe, Fate, Karma, etc.
It isn't until we have hindsight that we see how things happened, how a sequence of events unfolded, where we went wrong, or right. What seemed at the time a chaotic turn of events can now be easily explained by our own actions and motivations.
Today is a day for reflection, a full and sober day to look at 2021 and to ready ourselves for 2022. Consider the thread of events of your life this last year, the choices and decisions you made and how you made them. Not to judge "good" or "bad" choices, just examine your process. How did you get here?

I wish you a lovely Sunday and may your cards inspire you to find your inner voice and to access your innate and natural wisdom.

Enter the week quietly but well-armed with what you have learned. In other words, not passive but reserving your words and actions to give them more power when unleashed! You are in a good place to be listened to, use this position wisely.

You have a message that needs delivering. Prepare it and deliver it. Now is the time. It's time to get the wheels turning before they grind to an ignominious halt. Your communication skills are stronger than you think although you may feel somewhat slow or lethargic. It's just inertia from the holiday season. You've gained strength and perspective and are in a very good place now to get things going the way you want them to go.

You've got something up your sleeve. A trick or two. Find it. Use it. Results may not be instant but you can definitely get things turning. This is all you and that is a very good thing.

The very things that seem to limit your ability to express yourself, may in fact, be the very things that will allow you to.
Things that seem banal and everyday have inspired some of the best ideas, the greatest art and inventions ever made.
Look around yourself with new eyes. See beyond the thing, the person, the job or task at hand and find the symbolism there, the deeper meaning or the meaningful analogy.

Make connections that will lead to solutions, to ideas.

Or as my grandmother used to say, "Use your noodle!"

Some self-care is in order today. Besides your own self, you may also know someone who needs to hear that. Let's encourage each other and give each other the space we need to gather ourselves and recover from the first week of the New Year. For some of us, it's been a lot. Let's make kindness and patience our priorities today.

Embrace whimsy and unusual combinations of things. Remember that it takes a rough surface to make the other smooth. Much greatness has been lost to this world because of a fear to bring forth new ideas and concepts.
What are you afraid of? What is at the real base of the fear? It isn't what it appears to be on the surface. Keep peeling back the layers until you really find it and then "poof," watch it disappear.

This might sound a little heavy for a Monday, but it won't be a bad idea for you to take a deep look into yourself as you get ready to start a new week. Get your motivations and intentions well sorted before striking out into this week's fray. Be sure to have your ears well tuned to listen. Remember that a delayed reaction that is well thought out is a million times better than a quick one that isn't. Time is on your side. We tend to forget that. Take your time this week.

Keep doing what you're doing. You're on the right track or at least on the track to find the right track. If you have any doubts, take a few minutes to think about how far you've come, how much you've improved, how much you have learned. You can see this as "progress," "moving forward," or as I prefer, growth. Growth like a tree whose roots are expanding beneath and whose canopy reaches upward and whose branches bear sweet little fruits.

The Purple Poppy tells us it's time to evolve. I couldn't agree more. Why not now? It'd pretty easy really once you get over the fear and doubt that are trying to dissuade you, trying to distract with imagined expectations. Deep down we all know what we need to to, we know what we are capable of, what the situation requires. Time to get out of your own way.

Your floor needs sweeping. There are probably a few little things that need to be done that you've been meaning to do but so far haven't. Today is not the day for those tasks. However, it is a good day to commit to doing them. Cast the spell of making a plan. Just tell yourself exactly when you will do it and magically you will. Just watch!

Do yourself a favour and make a plan for this week. You'll get a lot more accomplished and be a lot happier when Friday rolls around. Remember that making a plan is like casting a spell and you don't want to break the spell. Have fun with it and enjoy the feeling of direction you'll have and the sense of being guided along the way.

You may have to put up a fight today. That fight may be with yourself. Know your convictions and don't waver or second guess yourself. I'm not suggesting you get into an actual argument or fight, quite the opposite. If you are clear in your mind of your own intentions, your strength will show or at least be enough to keep you on track with what you need to do.

You might be feeling your demons today. They are trying to get out, to be seen and heard. Go ahead and and listen to them, to what they have to say, but keep the conversation private. It's really not the best day to involve others into your inner turmoil. You need to get a good handle on it to express yourself effectively. Channel these feelings into meditations, physical activity, something creative in order to connect with them and understand them fully.

You should be able to feel a shift today. Things you've been working on, or even just planning to work on, are beginning to move into new stages. Be aware of this and treat each thing in a new way, understanding their new position and form. It is a low-key exciting time for you. Your reaction and response at this time will have a lasting affect.

Tarot Francois Gassmann 1840
from EDITIONS YVES REYNAUD

Sometimes we want to develop a talent or a skill but find it difficult because there is no application for it. This is why we stare at blank canvases, the empty page of a Word document, an instrument leaning against the wall in the corner of a room. If you really want to develop that skill, find a project to apply yourself to that requires that skill. Having this kind of direction will open the doors to the mysteries you seek to learn.

Pace yourself.
Don't become anxious.
Things may appear to be progressing very slowly or not at all. This is a perception based on unrealistic expectations.
Keep at what you are doing and enjoy the journey, the time. Don't spoil it by stressing out.
Breathe.

I'm going to let the great Yves Klein provide our message from today:

"Hours for preparation for something that is executed, with extreme precision,
in a few minutes. Just as with a Judo throw."

I guess that explains, in part, the third point on this card.

Your results today will either be extremely precise as a result of all the prep you have done, all the practice. Or, you may still be in that prep mode in which case the precision is still to come.
In either case, enjoy your work and don't be hard on yourself if the result isn't perfect but dedicate yourself to eventually reaching extreme precision. You'll know when you get there. Suddenly what you once struggled with you execute with astonishing ease.
