Tarot and Spiritual Insight

I have found that if I make a spread and ask for spiritual advice (in general) I get a response that is not so much for a person but from and to the World. Also, if I lay out these positions, Myself, Community, World, Way, the result is both personal and much more supra-personal. Have you worked with layouts that are trying to tap into "higher spiritual Forces?" What layouts seem to work best for this? Astrological circle of houses, Kabbalah tree, vertical seven for planets or chakras?
