Strange stones I can't identify

Post by Joan Marie »

These two stones were gifted to me together. They are fairly light weight, smooth and translucent on the inside and have this interesting sort of "skin" or really it's more of a "rind" that looks almost like tree bark . But as you see, they are completely different colors.

Does anyone know what these are?

yes, selenite, although i've never seen PINK selenite.

the white piece looks like it might be ulexite too... "tv rock" if it is, then that's pretty amazing. i'd love to see if it transmits images from one end to another.

Looks like peach and white selenite to me

Second idea would be Ulexite but that doesn’t come in peach

The pink, if harder than the white ( as Selenite and Ulexite are very soft and scratcheable) could be something called Limb Cast or Pink Chalcedony

Hope this helps!

Selenite seems to be the consensus. And maybe the pink color comes from iron.

I saw some pink selenite in a store a while ago, that kind of looks like it but unpolished.
