DoW 14: Marshmallow Marseille, Joan Marie

Post by Joan Marie »

I love this little deck and am really in the mood for it.

The Marshmallow Marseille is based on the Tarot of Lombardy by Angelo Valla-Trieste.

The cards are poker-size which I really like sometimes.
The deck is created by Jorge Cuaik, a really lovely person I have had the pleasure of exchanging emails with some. Jorge describes himself as:
I’m a Mexican filmmaker, costume designer, screenwriter, sometimes singer, full-time sorcerer, astrologer in training and broomstick-traveler.
His website is charming. Jorge has created a few decks, one I have my eye on is called Tarot Sirene. Just have a look.

So, I am not proficient at reading TdM. I was getting into it a while back but I got off the pony at some point and now I'm ready to try again.

I can't think of a better way than with this inviting, friendly, sweet little ice-cream deck.

Sunday

4 of Swords
4 of Swords
le Fou
le Fou
le Bateleur
le Bateleur

I've been drawing a lot of 4's lately. In fact, 2 just earlier today with another deck.

The first thing I see is a connection between the 4 of Swords and the 4 legs on the le Bateleur's table. I get a feeling of stability.
But maybe it is a false sense, le Fou in the center makes me think that.

I'm also getting an overall sense of being stuck. The flowers trapped within the Swords. le Fou being pulled on by the cat, urging him to not proceed. le Bateleur, hand on hip, seems to be working on something, seems transfixed by it.

All in all, not a lot of action, though which is not to say no progress.

Am I being encouraged to use this confinement time to study, to choose to pursue some intellectual task rather than binge another TV series?

Tom Benjamin LOVES this deck, and since I discovered his videos, I crave for this little gem!

It will be fun to see how you get on with it! I find Yoav Ben-Dov's book Open Reading helpful with Marseille decks but don't use them often enough to be really proficient.

I have to admit to feeling a bit stressed today. It's like the smallest thing really tweaks me. I feel my heart race, a restless feeling.
I did a grounding meditation and it helped. And now I have drawn these 3 very interesting cards.

The 3 seems to embody the feeling of confinement, being trapped, frustrated.
The six feels very free and abundant.
And in the middle, le Jugement. A cleansing, a clearing. A freeing. A calling.

I laid the 3 first, then the 6 then the middle card.
The 3 is the tomb I feel I am in. The trapped, bleak feeling and the 6 is what I am being called to do by the trumpet. To be expansive, to improve my surroundings perhaps, beautify.

I just got off a skype call with my son and his girlfriend. They live in a micro-apartment which is as small as it sounds. With their chihuahua, Daisy.

They have been isolating, together in this tiny space. But their spirits were so high. (Sometimes a couple of beers can really help!) Despite the hardships they are making the best of things. Doing lots of volunteer work and activism and playing video games together and cooking a lot.

My household is much the same although with a lot more personal space.

And I look at these 3 cards and I see a message of closeness between 2 people and the largeness and simultaneous smallness of our worlds.
The Sun card reminds me how situations can be a bit pressured, hot even, yet together, supporting each other, we can not only get through it, but become stronger.

And in the end, this experience will be added to our life's tapestry, making our inner worlds a much bigger place.

10 of Deniers
10 of Deniers
la Roue de Fortune
la Roue de Fortune
l'Imperatrice
l'Imperatrice

I love how on the wheel of fortune the guy on the bottom looks like he's in bed. I'm tempted to sketch a little laptop in front of him.
Perfect description of my general state these days. And location.

This reading tells me (hopefully) that a shift may be soon to take place. The ten of deniers I think of completion of one thing and start of another. Ane l'Imperatrice is looking a bit weighted down with her shield and (what is that thing called?) but her wings would like to be of use.

Joan Marie, I get the impression that there's a disconnect between the 10 of Coins and the X of the Wheel of Fortune. As if the ten coins should be forming the circle that is the Wheel. And that then the Empress can get to work.
Rumi was asked β€œwhich music sound is haram?” Rumi replied, "The sound of tablespoons playing in the pots of the rich, which are heard by the ears of the poor and hungry." (haram means forbidden)

So are you trying to say I have to actually do something?

Okay, now when I look those 10 little wheels they look like they are actively jumbling and trying to sort themselves into something new.

-lol-. Maybe your bed is too attractive. I know mine is. I spend 90% of my time on it - I even eat my meals on it in front of my computer.

Got that Wheel of Fortune again.
I'm taking this as a good sign.

The 4 and Queen of Wands both feel "ready" to me, maybe a sign of returned spark, so the Wheel on an upswing.
