Re: Gematria and tarot for beginners
Now for the Horrible Hebrew. I'll simply use what I wrote some days ago in this thread (with a bad conscience but some tarotists do want to learn Hebrew letters, don't you? don't you???) Hebrew is written from right to left which is still confusing for me. So here are the Hebrew letters, and if anyo...

Gematria and tarot for beginners
Gematria sounds and looks a bit confusing but actually, it's not difficult to use it with tarot cards - or without. What is Gematria? It's an old Jewish esoteric technique that uses the double character of Hebrew letters. These letters are not only letters but also numbers. A bit like Roman numbers?...

Re: Dirt cheap Tarot readings - what do you think?
I don't know how high quality these readings are. Serious people know they have to pay more than that. I haven't seen this phenomenon but the cheapening of good work everywhere is worrying. It makes me understand even less the people who come here and expect free readings. I mean for that price anyo...

Re: Deck Combinations like Truth in Story
From what I understand, it's the transitional space between our world and the world of Spirit or spirits, between life and death, between what we can see and grasp - and the reality we can intuit and feel at times before it slips away again... the space we long to cross when there's somebody we love...

Deck Combinations like Truth in Story
Some time ago, I found a great clip by Truth in Story (I love her channel). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7QhuG32-ZE&ab_channel=TheTruthinStory It's called Category Duos. She uses two decks (tarot and oracle) in combination for certain topics or kinds of readings. I found these categories esp...

Re: What's the Deck-Stork bringing?
I'm happy! A beautiful beautiful deck landed in my hands today: the Stella. It took six weeks to arrive here, the customs office checked the parcel, opened and re-packed it. But it's perfect and oh I'm happy. Just what I needed today.

How exciting to be present and involved from the moment you wrote about your idea for the first time, the whole process. Wonderful.

Re: Reading & Pronouncing the Sephiroth
He may have known the basics but he didn't really know Hebrew. Hebrew letters don't HAVE numbers, they ARE numbers. It's not an association you can change, like you can say: in my deck, Swords are associated with Fire. Aleph IS one. Crowley can decide to change that, of course, but then he disrespec...

Re: How Do You Keep Your Decks?
Supersentai, that looks wonderful! What a beautiful idea. I love it. I think this idea of keeping tarot decks like books is great. Lately, deck producers have become much more creative with their boxes, sometimes too much so - it feels sometimes like overkill and you feel that the box is making the ...

Isn't that great? I often have a similar problem that either I can't order to my country at all, or that I'd have to sell one of my (worthless) kidneys to pay for it! Re: Back to Basics: 3-Card Spreads
Tom Benjamin has a very interesting and useful method for reading three card spreads. He reads the cards like words in a sentence.

Re: Back to Basics: 3-Card Spreads
I made some photos to show how you can influence your perception of the 3 card spread by arraning the cards in different positions. linear.jpg Linear: you go from one direction to the other, a b c. Most obviously: past present future, but also every other three spread positions where all three have ...

Re: Reading & Pronouncing the Sephiroth
Yoav, this gentle soul, explains it all very nicely in his chapter "Hebrew Letters" in his book "Tarot - the Open Reading", a wonderful book. The French tradition of assigning Hebrew letters to cards was created by Eliphas Levy, and he assigns aleph to the Magician, and then the ...

Re: Reading & Pronouncing the Sephiroth
It works for the aleph, I agree. But it makes bet one. But in Hebrew, for thousands of years and today, the meaning of bet is TWO. Gimel is three and not two, Dalet is four and not three. It's not an association or tradition - it's the name of the number. Yom gimel is the third day is Tuesday. Imagi...

I'm glad you agree, I wrote my rant in the middle of the night and was afraid I was too sharp. I didn't mean to make mincemeat of the author or readers who find her writing inspiring - I don't know any other of her articles.

Re: Reading & Pronouncing the Sephiroth

Of course everybody can write about the tarot and the Hebrew alphabet whatever they wish. I think that Jenniaelaine packed everything and its gr...

Re: Reading & Pronouncing the Sephiroth
I want to add here some aspects of the Hebrew words of the sephiroth. When I read this thread, I thought that might be interesting to some, but I didn't want to derail the thread so I came here instead. Each Hebrew word is based on a root (usually consisting of four consonants) which are then change...
